Madame Web Movie Planned In Spider-Man Universe

It didn’t take Sony long, once Spider-Man came home from his MCU adventure, the latest spin-off was announced in the form of an old woman in dope sunglasses.

Collider broke the news that Morbius screenwriters Matt Sazama and Burk Sharpless have been brought back into the Spider-Verse by Sony Pictures to pen a Madame Web movie.

I’m sure you’ll be asking, who the fuck is Madame Web and is this Sony dicking about again?

I’ll answer the second question in a moment but in regards to who Madame Web is. She first showed up in the comics in the 80s in The Amazing Spider-Man #210 and created by writer Deeny O’Neil and artist John Romita Jr.

Known as Cassandra Webb, Madame Web is an elderly blind woman suffering from a chronic neuromuscular disease that makes it hard to move or breathe. To which she connects to a life support system in the form of a spider web.

I don’t believe this is Sony dicking about, in fact, it looks like they’re creating a world for Tom Holland’s Spider-Man post MCU with this film the potential glue as this character holds the key to a shared multiverse.

We could possibly see a Holland Spidey meeting a Miles Morales Spider-Man set in Sam Raimi’s universe and crossing paths with Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield’s Peter Parker.

Additionally, I feel this shows the studio has faith in Morbius and that Sazama and Sharpless wrote a decent script.

I can’t remember a lot but she was an awesome character in the 90s Spider-Man animated series and remember being a little scared of her.

As for an early fancast, I’ve got to go with the wonderful Emma Thompson because she’d boss this character and looks like Madame Web.
