No One Is Safe In James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad

Hey kids, do you like death? Do you like seeing unknown/D-list DC villain getting their heads blown off or getting murder by an even worst enemy? Well, in 2021, James Gunn has the perfect movie for you in the form of The Suicide Squad.

It’s understandable with a cast this big and the nature of the comic, character’s dying isn’t a big surprise especially when during the behind the scenes trailer at DC FanDome a produce described the film as “a gritty 1970s war movie.”

To promote The Suicide Squad’s upcoming headline cover story in Empire Magazine, Gunn asked a question on Twitter of which two characters are likely to survive. Fans replied with those likely to have futures in DC Films like Harley Quinn, Amanda Waller and even the big-screen debut of King Shark.

In reply, Gunn revealed, “No character was protected by DC. They gave me carte blanche to do what I wanted. That was one of the things we agreed to before I came to work for them. I wasn’t looking for shock value but I wanted the audience to know anything could happen. #StroyReignsSupreme #TheSuicideSquad.”

Do I believe James? No. I can’t see DC Films head chief Walter Hamada giving him free rein. With a cast that features a minimum of 15 Task Force X members, they’ll be many surprise and funny deaths. However, I do believe at least four will survive.

Those four will be Margot Robbie’s Harley Quinn, Viola Davis as Waller, newbie King Shark (who I think is wearing shorts in the cover photo?) played by Steve Agee and I predict voiced by Taika Waititi. Finally one of Col. Rick Flag or Captain Boomerang played by Joel Kinnaman and Jai Courtney respectfully.

If I guessed who will get knocked off in first 15 minutes, it’ll either be Nathan Fillion’s T.D.K or Flula Borg’s Javelin Man with the last ones to kick the bucket will be Blackguard (Pete Davidson), Bloodsport (Idris Elba) and Peacemaker (John Cena).

The last one will be a surprise considering Gunn and Cena are working on a Peacemaker series for HBO Max, but they never stated if it was an origin or post Suicide Squad.

Finally, what Gunn has done is some superb pre-marketing as he’s telling fans to see it opening night/weekend to make sure you’re not spoiled by those online revealing the members who died making for a bigger weekend box office.
