Patty Jenkins Talks Animated Amazon Spin-Off & Third Wonder Woman Movie

It’s crazy to think it would’ve been over a month since Wonder Woman 1984 would’ve been released, and now it’s possible we won’t see this movie until 2021 due to this pandemic.

This hasn’t stopped filmmaker Patty Jenkins discussing with Empire about the Amazon based spin-off and a third Wonder Woman movie.

While talking about her love of returning to Themyscira and the Amazon Olympics (which looks epic in the trailer), the conversation turned to bringing the Amazon to our screens as Jenkins mentions that they’re considering making this spin-off an animated series!!

This is the first time (I can remember) this spin-off being both a series and animated as the filmmaker stating it will be “part of the in-world story of Wonder Woman”. It seems she’s following the footsteps of her fellow DCEU director James Wan, who’s bringing an Aquaman animated mini-series to HBO Max.

So it wouldn’t surprise me if this series will follow suit and be part of WarnerMedia’s streaming service, HBO Max. Making it animated with a talent of Lauren Montgomery (who directed 2009 Wonder Woman animated movie), for example, would be great to see.

Patty also mentions she has ideas for a third Wonder Woman movie with star Gal Gadot.

“You’re enjoying the movie you’re making and also reflecting on what could be different or better in the [real] world. And therefore what story you want to tell.

“That’s the greatest thing to me about superhero stories. You’re able to have dialogue about what a hero would be right now. So yes, I have ideas for what I’d like to say, and Gal does too” she added.

I can’t wait to see what Patty and Gal have in store for us in Wonder Woman 1984, and I expect to see a second trailer at the upcoming DC FanDome on August 22.
