“Come on a slam and welcome to the jam” as we finally have an official title on the Space Jam sequel.
It’s been 24 YEARS!!! Since the original Michael Jordan led movie hit cinemas and has been in the hearts of 90s kids ever since. I know the movie gets a beating from critics and film pundits, but I love this movie.
This means I couldn’t be more hyped for this sequel and LeBron James is picking up the legacy *hint, hint* as James unveiled the title and logo on his social media and the sequel is called Space Jam: A New Legacy.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Girls Trip’s Malcolm D Lee is set to helm Legacy. The recent draft of the script coming from Black Panther and Creed filmmaker Ryan Coolger and Searching’s Sev Ohanian and you couldn’t much better people to pen the script.
Space Jam: A New Legacy will be James’ first leading movie role following universal praise for his supporting performance in the 2015 comedy Trainwreck.
As well as the stellar cast of Looney Toons, James will be joined by Don Cheadle after finishing his time as War Machine in the MCU. The interesting thing is which NBA all-stars will have supporting roles, and it’s been a massive hurdle for James and Warner Bros to get names in so far.
As long as they have Quad City’s DJs classic theme from the original movie (please no remakes just the OG) then I’ll be having the biggest smile on my face.
Space Jam: A New Legacy is currently dated to hit cinemas on July 16, 2021.
