WWE Survivor Series Preview & Predictions

This weekend is going to be an incredible one for wrestling and WWE fans and not only do we have the third NXT: TakeOver – War Games but the first time the yellow and black brand is involved in Survivor Series.

Now let’s focus on previewing and predicting this major WWE PPV.

Kick-Off Show

NXT Cruiserweight Championship – Lio Rush (c) vs Angel Garza

They couldn’t be part of the stacked War Games card so it makes sense to put this match in their designated spot and it could be from the previous TV title match between the two as it ended in controversy as Garza’s foot was on the rope but the referee failed to notice.

This match would be a great kick-off to the main show and get the Chicago crowd pumped.

Winner – Lio Rush Retains The NXT Cruiserweight Championship

Main Card

NXT Championship – Adam Cole (c) vs Pete Dunne

After a battling and bruising match inside War Games, this could be the perfect opportunity for Dunne to get his hands on an injured and tired Cole to secure his first-ever NXT title.

However, I don’t see it happening and while this match will be TakeOver level bout to kick off the main show. It’ll end with Cole taking a cheap DQ and it could be the beginning of a program for the pair leading to a title match at the next TakeOver.

Winner – Adam Cole Retains The NXT Championship

Brand Supremacy Triple Threat Tag Team Match – Raw Tag Team Champions The Viking Raiders vs Smackdown Tag Team Champions The New Day vs NXT Tag Team Champions Undisputed Era

This will be the chance for either of the brand to get the upper hand and the chance to showcase incredible tag team wrestling and I think it’s between two teams New Day and UE (no offence Raiders).

Bobby Fish and Kyle O’Reilly will be battered and bruised going into the match so I could see them using both teams to fight each other and they can be protected and rest before taking their moment.

Kofi will hit his finisher on a member of the Raiders before O’Reilly and Fish take advantage and hit the high-low on Kingston to get the win.

Winner – NXT Tag Team Champions Undisputed Era

Brand Supremacy Triple Threat Match – US Champion AJ Styles vs Intercontinental Champion Shinsuke Nakamura vs NXT North American Champion Rodrick Strong

This match has all the potential to steal the show with the all the talent involved but with it being a triple threat there are no DQs so I could see The OC supporting their boy AJ, Sami Zayn and Cesaro in Nakamura’s corner and the other UE members having Strong’s back.

There will be a good match coming to an end and that’s when the craziness starts and ends with Nakamura landing the Kinshasa on an already injured and knackered Strong to give Smackdown their first win of the night.

Winner – Intercontinental Champion Shinsuke Nakamura

Universal Championship Match – The Fiend Bray Wyatt (c) vs Daniel Bryan

This is given the right build a Wrestlemania level match and given the shortness of this feud there’s only one winner and clearly, Wyatt isn’t losing the Universal title in his first defence.

Bryan will be on top form and could push The Fiend but with the power of the utterly crap red light, it shouldn’t be a long match.

Winner – The Fiend Bray Wyatt Retains The Universal Championship

Survivor Series Elimination Triple Threat Match – Team Raw (Charlotte Flair, Natalya, Asuka, Kairi Sane & Sarah Logan) vs Team Smackdown (Sasha Banks, Carmella, Dane Brooke, Lacey Evans & Nikki Cross) vs Team NXT (TBA)

Throughout the night before the match even begins we could see War Games winning captain Rhea Ripley battered and bruised trying to get a team together.

Tegan Nox and Mia Yim could be ruled out injured, so it could be a mix of both War Games teams as we see Io Shirai (after that tease on NXT) and Bianca Belair (because we need that moment with Banks) agree to join.

Candace LeRae set aside her personal anger against Shirai to focus on the bigger picture proving she’s the toughest woman in NXT and once again join Ripley. Finally, after the advice of Nox, the former NXT UK women’s champion goes against her better judgement and let’s fresh and ready-to-fight Dakota Kai be the fifth member.

Team NXT is a target from the beginning due to War Games and they take a bit of a battering but with Teams Raw and Smackdown also losing members. Kai is the final member of Team NXT against Cross and Flair.

Charlotte takes care of Cross and focuses on Kai and with her current losing run is about to lose but Ripley returns and takes out Flair with the Kiwi hitting her finisher to give her a major pin and win for NXT.

Winner – Team NXT

Brand Supremacy Triple Threat – Raw Women’s Champion Becky Lynch vs Smackdown Women’s Champion Bayley vs NXT Women’s Champion Shayna Baszler

If it wasn’t for Brock Lesnar, I would easily have this match main event as I think it’ll still the show as you’ve got history between Baszler and Lynch with the connection to Ronda Rousey and Bayley is in the background annoyed she seems to be overlooked completely.

Sadly I think it’s fair as while I think this will be a fantastic match, it is a triple threat and we see Jessamyn Duke and Marina Shafir taking out the newly formed heel.

Leaving Becky and Shayna one-on-one in the ring and as the Lasskicker is about to lock the Disarm her, Rousey’s music hits and she works out to course the distraction to let her fellow horsewoman pick up the win.

Winner – NXT Women’s Champion Shayna Baszler

Survivor Series Elimination Match – Team Raw (Seth Rollins, Drew McIntyre, Kevin Owens, Randy Orton & Ricochet) vs Team Smackdown (Roman Reigns, King Corbin, Braun Strowman, Shorty G, Mustafa Ali) vs Team NXT (TBA)

Similar to the NXT women, this time Triple H has to sort out the team but has issues as members of Team Ciampa’s War Games team are unable to wrestle. This leads to Finn Balor leading the team and joined by Walter, Damien Priest and Tommaso Ciampa.

They go out as a team of four and we get to see Walter chap the shit out of people, but ultimately team NXT gets knocked out and it leaves two members of Team Raw Rollins and Owens against the surviving Smackdown member Reigns.

It looks like Raw has won this as Rollins’ superkick leads Roman to get stunnered by KO and pinned 1-2-3. Seth goes crazy as Raw finally won a match at Survivor Series only to turn round and see Owens in an NXT shirt and deliver a stunner to the former Universal champ.

This leads to a massive pop and KO has officially rejoined the yellow and black brand.

Winner – Team NXT

WWE Championship No Holds Barred Match – Brock Lesnar (c) vs Rey Mysterio

There’s a lot of mystery around this match and the fact it’s no holds barred is a clear sigh that Dominick Mysterio and Cain Velasquez will get involved.

The question is if that makes any difference. The likely answer is no we’ll probably see Rey run into multiple German suplexes and an F5 or three.

However, I could also see Mysterio Jr and Velasquez getting some major payback and using weapons to cost Lesnar the title.

It’d achieve and set up multiple matches for Wrestlemania season. We can get We Appreciate You title run until Royal Rumble and that’s when we see Dominick’s true Guerrero colours and set up a retirement match. Additionally, get a proper, decent Brock vs Cain match.

Winner – Rey Mysterio Wins The WWE Championship
