It’s been a busy and fantastic week (and we still have today) in the world of The Batman as first Zoe Kravitz becoming Catwoman, then talks with Jonah Hill ended and now Matt Reeves has found his Riddler in the form of Paul Dano.
The news broke across all major US trades and then as he’s previously done, Reeves confirmed the news on his Twitter.
According to Variety, this casting came after Jonah Hill turned down an offer to join the film and during the long negotiations between Warner Bros and Hill’s team, it’s believed WB was looking to offer the role to Dano and just waited to hear Hill’s decision.
I think this should get people excited about the role of The Riddler and how important it’ll be to The Batman because if Hill was originally looked at as Penguin and he wanted Riddler only for the role to go to an actor of Dano’s ability.

What’s so exciting is Reeves is using Riddler’s original name of Edward Nashton, which means we’ll be getting a back story of the name change of Edward Nygma and he dons the green suit.
This is way Dano is a fantastic choice because not only is he one of this generation underrated talents but he has this everyman look about that he’ll see him become one of Batman’s best villains and will be massively different to Jim Carrey in Batman Returns.
If he is the lead villain against Robert Pattinson’s Batman then this will be a detective/ mystery storyline and I’m so hyped as fuck and what helps is Reeves’ co-writer Mattson Tomlin using the description world’s greatest detective.
As for what’s next the two biggest and exciting casting will be Penguin and Alfred.
I’ll still hold out hope of Brian Tyree Henry for Oswald Cobblepot, I think jumping on the Paul Walter Hauser wagon would be smart.
As for Bruce Wayne’s trusted butler, I think a great choice would be Daniel Craig or I’ll love to see Bill Nighy in the role.
I won’t be surprised if we’ll hear about these casting soon as it’s clear pre-production and filming is gearing up to happen at the end of the 2019 or early 2020.
The Batman will be hitting cinemas June 25, 2021.
