After months of searching, Sony Pictures has found their He-Man and it’s the internet’s boyfriend.
The Wrap has revealed Noah Centineo is in talks to play the He-Man in Masters of the Universe with the film set to be directed by Aaron and Adam Nee from a screenplay by Iron Man duo Matt Holloway and Art Marcum.
This project was originally written by The Dark Knight and Man of Steel screenwriter David S. Goyer and is still attached as an executive producer.
In case you’ve forgotten who He-Man or Masters of the Universe was about. The Mattel toy franchise saw Prince Adam, heir to the throne of planet Eternia, use the magical Power Sword to transform himself into the heroic warrior with the crap haircut, He-Man.

He-Man, with help from Teela, Mat-At-Arms, Orko and The Sorceress, defends the kingdom from the evil wizard Skeletor, named because he’s not ashamed in showing his skull to the world, who wants to control Castle Greyskull, the source of He-Man’s powers.
If you read this and think the franchise is crap, you’re sort of right it because it was as the toys became an animated series in the 80s and it was all kinds of camp. However, it was successful as it had different spin-offs and a live-action film in 1987 starring Dolph Lundgren as He-Man.
However, in 2002 it was an awesome, serious animated series and because the series took the source material seriously, people didn’t watch it and it never came back. YOU BASTARDS!

Even though they could easily do that again and bring an epic, sci-fi fantasy to the big screen similar to Star Wars meets Lord of the Rings. Sony and Mattel Films will want to return to the campiness of it and when looking at the successes of Guardians of the Galaxy, Thor: Ragnorak and the upcoming Shazam! it’s likely they’ll go the action-adventure with comedy route.
The casting of Centineo suggests that as well. As successes in Netflix teen rom-com’s To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before and Sierra Burgess Is A Loser made him the internet’s new boyfriend and we’ll next see him in Charlie’s Angels and To All The Boys 2.
Once the 22-year-old actor starts working out and getting the He-Man body I think it’ll look like the character but we have to wait and see.
