Dune 2 Is Happening & Coming Out Oct 20, 2023

Get ready to return to Arakis as Legendary announced yesterday (Tuesday 26th October) that Dune will be getting a sequel.

It was going to happen, but being a Warner Bros released film still had a question mark over it. It didn’t help the big-screen epic was having a day-and-date battle with HBO Max.

However, this didn’t stop it from opening with a strong $40.1 million at the US box office and currently a decent worldwide box office of $223.2 million. It’s the biggest opening of director Denis Villeneuve’s career and the biggest opening of the year for WB.

Luckily for fans, Legendary had the final say if Dune would get a sequel, and the studio had to accept it. While I may not have been the biggest fan of the film, I’m glad we’re getting a part two.

In a statement, Villeneuve said, “I just received news from Legendary that we are officially moving forward with Dune: Part Two. It was a dream of mine to adapt Frank Herbert’s Dune and I have the fans, the cast, and crew, Legendary and Warner Bros, to thanks for supporting this dream. This is only the beginning.”

Timothée Chalamet will return as Paul Atreides and will be joined by Zendaya and Rebecca Ferguson, with this film only telling the first part of Frank Herbert’s 1965 sci-fi classic novel of the same name.

This was only the beginning, and Dune: Part Two will be hitting theatres on October 20, 2023.
