Gal Gadot has already got two significant franchises under the lasso, but now it looks like she’s about to get her James Bond on.
This is because according to Discussing Film are reporting Wonder Woman star Gadot is in talks to as the lead in an upcoming and untitled spy thriller from Skydance.
It must be stressed this is only a rumour and should be taken with a grain of salt, but the report states iconic comic book writer Greg Rucka is to pen the screenplay with the hope it’ll be a similar action franchise like Bond or Skydance’s Mission: Impossible.
Rucka has worked on Stumptown, Wonder Woman, Batwoman among other things including The Old Guard, which he wrote the script for the recent Netflix film and it’ll come as a surprise it was his first-ever screenplay.
Due to the huge success of the Charlize Theron action film, I won’t be massively shocked if studios will be putting a bidding war to get Rucka on a first-look deal.
Details on the plot are still unknown, but the rumour from the site is it could be a Spy v Spy, and if she does sign on she’ll be producing the project.
It set to be a busy couple of years for the Israeli actress with press for Wonder Woman 1984 (whenever we get to see it), Zack Snyder’s Justice League and Death on the Nile. She’s set to start filming as one-third of Netflix’s big-budget action thriller, Red Notice starring Dwayne Johnson and Ryan Reynolds. Additionally, Gadot will be the lead and produce for the Hedy Lamarr biopic series for Apple TV+.
The hope was the film the movie during late Summer. However, given we’re in a pandemic and Red Notice has finished production, so it’s unlikely this project won’t be happening until 2021 at the earliest.
