Major studios and properties are stepping further away from the significant cons and creating their own.
For a while, San Diego was the place to be, but over the years in the eyes of Warner Bros it became less so after a poor return on several projects first showcased at the nerd mecca. The studio has also had previous issues with the leak of the teaser trailer of Suicide Squad.
However, now not only is WB seemingly stepping away from SDCC, especially with their DC related content.
The DC Universe is coming straight into our homes for fans to enjoy as on August 22 there will be a free, global, 24-hour virtual convention called DC FanDome!

So Disney has D23 and Star Wars as their celebration it’s about time WB/DC had their own thing and let’s hope this virtual world becomes real-life.
What can we expect from DC Fandome? Well, it’s split into six universes with the main one being the Hall of Heroes. This will be the home for all the panels, reveals and special programming.
Then you’ll be about to visit DC WatchVerse is for even more panels, screenings and never-before-seen content. DC YouVerse is highlighting all the fan-generated content like artwork and cosplays (would love if some short films got on there). DC KidsVerse is what is says on the tin aimed for younger fans.
Meanwhile, the DC InsiderVerse will be home to all the creative minds that bring all projects we love. With an intro video from DC Publisher/CCO Jim Lee, President of DC-Based Film Production Walter Hamada and Arrowverse mastermind Greg Berlanti. Finally, DC FunVerse is where you’ll be able to find merch, a comic-book reader, shareable and more.

So what could we expect from the 24-hour mega-event? As of right now, the confirmed cast and creators from these projects appearing will be, and this is guesswork from me. The Hall of Heroes will include: The Batman, Wonder Woman 1984, Black Adam, The Suicide Squad, Aquaman and SHAZAM! from the world of movies.
HBO Max will have a significant presence with Doom Patrol and other titles like Green Lantern Corps and of course Zack Snyder’s Justice League.
Elsewhere, the WatchVerse will handle all things animation, TV and CW like Pennyworth, Superman & Lois, Batwoman, Teen Titans GO!, DC Super Hero Girls, Black Lightning, Lucifer, DC’s Legends of Tomorrow, Harley Quinn, Titans, DC”s Stargirl, Young Justice: Outsiders and Watchman.
It won’t be too long before Supergirl and The Flash are added, news on the Arrow spin-off Green Arrow and The Canaries, the upcoming future of the DC Animated movies with a special screening of Superman: Man of Tomorrow. Plus, DC Universe will be part of HBO Max with new series of Titans, and more importantly Harley Quinn coming soon.

News from WB Games and the comics are also highly expected.
DC FanDome will be available in at least 10 different languages – Portuguese, French, German, Chinese, English, Italian, Spanish, Korean and Japanese – and include special content in those specific countries.
DC FanDome will launch on August 22 on DCFanDome.Com.
