John Wick Filmmaker Chad Stahelski Bringing The Action To Birds of Prey

Some incredibly exciting news broke late Friday night as John Wick filmmaker Chad Stahelski has come onboard DC’s upcoming movie Birds of Prey.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the director has been signed up to design new action scenes for the movie in an uncredited second unit director role.

This shouldn’t be seen as anything other than fantastic news as Stahelski must’ve come on board with the film’s director Cathy Yan’s blessing and his stunt company 87 Eleven has been working on Birds of Prey since the beginning of production.

We also continue to hear the film as a story is going down well with test screening audiences and this is just Warner Bros and Yan wanting to up the action for this R-rated film.

Furthermore, Stahelski and his firm have worked on major budget comic book blockbusters as he was the second unit director on Captain America: Civil War and worked on stunts for Deadpool 2.

Additionally, these reshoots shouldn’t curse any worry because of a) EVERY MAJOR BLOCKBUSTER PLAN THESE IN ADVANCE!! and b) who would you want to handle action/stunts? A filmmaker whose indie film has no form of action or the man behind one of the most popular original action trilogy since the 80/90s??

It’s a no brainer and with the look of the film, John Wick 3 looked similar to the look Birds of Prey (And The Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn) will likely be.

These reshoots are the possible reason why fans haven’t seen anything as Warner Bros and Yan don’t want to show what was revealed at CinemaCon.

Meanwhile, by bringing Stahelski in the DC family we could see in the next couple of months that Stahelski is on board to helm his own DC film or, and this is a mind-blowing hope, that he will handle the second unit directing for Matt Reeves’ Batman with his 87 Eleven handling the stunts.

Margot Robbie is reprising the role of Harley Quinn and is joined by Mary Elizabeth Winstead’s Huntress and Jurnee Smollett-Bell as Black Canary, as well as Ella Joy Basco’s Cassandra Cain and Rosie Perez will be Gotham City PD detective Renee Montoya.

Meanwhile, Ewan McGregor is the villainous Black Mask and Chris Messina is attached as the sadistic serial killer Victor Zsasz.
