No Real Surprises At Monday Night Raw’s Superstar Shake-Up

Last night was the beginning of Superstar Shake-Up as we saw a number of Smackdown wrestlers move to Raw and the surprises were low apart from one call-up that has got nothing but an awful reaction from wrestling fans.

A large number of moves were right as the likes of AJ Styles, The Usos, The Miz and Naomi all needed a change of scenery as they were on the blue brand since the first shake-up and they’ll all get a chance to start new storylines.

For AJ, he’ll be involved in the top of the card chancing Seth Rollins’ Universal Championship alongside Roman Reigns and it’s a smart move as Raw were in need of another top guy and AJ will have great matches with Rollins.

When it comes to The Usos, the writing was on the wall the moment they dropped the Smackdown tag titles the show after mania to the Hardyz. Again this is the smart move and Jimmy and Jey will help lift the awfulness that is the Raw tag team division.

Meanwhile, Naomi can start new storylines against the likes of Lacey Evans, Ruby Riott and the Riott Squad and I’m sure every fan will hope a feud with Ember Moon is in the cards (depending if she stays on Raw).

Elsewhere, what was a surprise move was Andrade and his manager Zelina Vega to Monday Nights but it’s exciting because he could get involved in the Universal title scene and would have fantastic matches especially against Rollins.

The likelihood he’ll be in the picture for the Intercontinental title and he and Finn Balor feud is exciting (again if the Irishman stays on Raw).

This move alongside Rey Mysterio going to Raw could be the start of building a faction as Vega posted an image from Instagram that would be awesome to see happen.

With Rey, Andrade and Vega were joined by Gran Metalik, Kalisto, Lince Dorado and Sin Cara and the name of Latin Blood is superb and hope WWE and Vince start building towards it.

The Miz moving is good because it kills his feud with Shane McMahon, for the meantime, and he can have a fresh start as a babyface on the red brand.

As for the previous NXT call-ups then were doing both brands have found their home with Aleister Black, Ricochet, Lars Sullivan, EC3 and Lacey Evans permanent on Raw.

Eric Young splitting with Sanity was needed as they were doing nothing with him and the group as a whole and this could be the chance to have a fresh start with a new character.

Elsewhere, Cedric Alexander leaving 205 Live, similarly to the SD people, was needed and hopefully he can have the same impact as Mustafa Ali has done on Smackdown.

Finally, the biggest surprise move was the call-up of Hanson and Rowe of the War Raiders and in what should’ve been exciting for fans instead pissed every wrestling fan and in one night Vince McMahon has ruined the NXT champions.

Because they’re no longer Hanson and Rowe aka the War Raiders they’re now called Ivar and Erik of The Viking Experience and this is fucking awful.

The new name sounds like a something you can get at sex shop “so over here is our Viking experience” whilst War Raiders had audiences chanting “war” as they entered the ring.

I wonder how Triple H feels and I wouldn’t be surprised was the first sign of how WWE will handle them and we’ll see them leave sooner than later.

The only, and this is the only good thing, is this talented duo with The Usos makes the Raw tag division a bit more exciting.

It’s going to be interesting to see what happens during tonight’s Smackdown as it could be the better show and I’m keeping my fingers crossed Pete Dunne gets the call-up.
