Sky Atlantic has unveiled the teaser trailer for the long-awaited season two of the brilliant Gangs of London.
If you haven’t seen this fantastic crime drama, I highly recommend doing so as it’s one of the best TV shows I’ve seen in a long time from the creative mind of The Raids Gareth Evans.
Now it’s been over two years since the first series hit our screens in April 2020. We’ve now got a behind the scenes featurette and this official teaser giving us a real feel of what we can expect, and it looks to be grimmer than ever.
The trailer is headlined by ex-undercover cop Elliot (Sopé Dìrísù), who looks to be in a room of sorts and ominously asks, “Do you know this world you’re in?”
“I’ve seen things you haven’t. Do you know how it feels to be powerless? How it feels to be a pawn in someone else’s game? The things it makes you…” he adds in the voiceover.
Before asking at the end of the trailer, “What does it feel like to be a king?”
The trailer includes plenty of guns and explosions and quick cuts of the leading players of the series focusing on Paapa Essiedu’s Alex Dumani, Narges Rashidi as Lale and Asif Raz Mir’s Asif Afridi.
According to Sky and sorry for the spoiler, but please do watch the series it is terrific. The season picks up a year after the death of Sean Wallace (Joe Cole) as “the map and soul of London have been redrawn.”
“The surviving Wallaces are scattered, the Dumanis broken and estranged and Elliot is now being forced to work for the investors… Who will win battle for London’s soul?”
The trailer also shows the series is picking up the Lale and Asif storyline, and it looks like they’re going head into war, Billy Wallace (Brain Vernel) has joined his family’s traveller gang, and the bit about the map of London being redrawn could mean gang violence has increased.
Even though we haven’t got a release date for the new season, the fact we’ve got a teaser and a date of 2022 could mean it’ll either be late Summer or Autumn.
If you live in the UK, you can watch Gangs of London on Sky and Now and in the US on AMC.
