It has fully begun, the marketing for Zack Snyder’s Justice League has started with the release of new posters, synopsis and we have a release date of March 18th.
There were rumours on social media within the Snyder fan community that something was dropping this week and by god what a treat.
The WarnerMedia press release confirms that it’ll be a feature-length movie and from what Snyder himself said at DC Fandom it was going to be a four-part hour mini-series, so we’re getting a four-hour film.
Honestly, I think a four-part mini-series would’ve done it and HBO Max better streaming and subscription numbers as more people get interested over those weeks and have to watch it.
On the other hand, I’m sure the reason for the decision of a feature is down to contracts with cast and crew would have to sign new deals and would’ve cost more.
Nevertheless, the cut is getting released, and I can’t wait to inject it into my eyes.
To confirm the release date, Snyder himself unveiled three new beautiful posters highlighting the journey he and the fans have been on for three years.
The first poster, Fallen, is a nod towards the first teaser Justice League poster back in March 2017 that had the tagline “Unite” underneath.

Meanwhile, the second Risen poster could be taken as double meaning with it being a war flag planted in the rubble as a symbol of the battle being won. It could most likely mean as a nod to the iconic Death of Superman comic cover as this was the first thing I thought.

The third and final poster, Reborn, will be the one I suspect fans will want on the wall as it’s a fuck you from the filmmaker to those film journalists and bloggers saying the famous “it doesn’t exist” pushback saying “yeah I did.”

Out of all of them, I would probably own the Risen because it’s so beautiful.
As well as the posters and release date, we got a brand new synopsis.
“In Zack Snyder’s Justice League, determined to ensure Superman’s (Henry Cavill) ultimate sacrifice was not in vain, Bruce Wayne (Ben Affleck) aligns forces with Diana Prince (Gal Gadot) with plans to recruit a team of metahumans to protect the world from an approaching threat of catastrophic proportions.
“The task proves more difficult than Bruce imagined, as each of the recruits must face the demons of their own pasts to transcend that which has held them back, allowing them to come together, finally forming an unprecedented league of heroes. Now united, Batman (Affleck), Wonder Woman (Gadot), Aquaman (Jason Momoa), Cyborg (Ray Fisher) and The Flash (Ezra Miller) may be too late to save the planet from Steppenwolf, DeSaad and Darkseid and their dreadful intentions.”
This synopsis says to me that the first hour/90 minutes will be Batman just trying to form the league. Then we’ll have the history lesson, Superman’s rebirth and the Knightmare scene where we likely could see Deathstroke (Joe Manganiello), Mera (Amber Heard) and The Joker (Jared Leto) forming some sort of resistance with Batman against Darkseid.
The press release also confirms we will be able to buy Junkie XL’s soundtrack.
Zack Snyder’s Justice League will be premiering on HBO Max (in countries with the streaming platform), and WarnerMedia will announce other International plans as soon as possible.
For the UK it’ll likely be Sky, either a Sky Cinema exclusive, premiering on Sky Atlantic or available on PVOD on both Sky and Now TV.
Finally, I’ll say it might be worth keeping an eye on Twitter tomorrow (Sunday 31st January) as fans have planned a trending event spearheaded by movement founder, Fiona Zheng. It’s possible Snyder could award fans by releasing the second trailer of his film.
