First, it was Tony Stark, then Nick Fury and now Marvel Studios believe Spider-Man can’t be his own fucking hero, so they’ve brought in Benedict Cumberbatch’s Dr Strange has his newest mentor.
This crap idea was revealed by The Hollywood Reporter, who states the British actor will be joining Spider-Man 3.
“The move puts Cumberbatch in the mentor role that was previously occupied by Robert Downey Jr., who played Tony Stark/Iron Man in Spider-Man: Homecoming, and by Samuel L. Jackson in Spider-Man: Far From Home, the latter reprising Nick Fury.

“The role gives Holland a chance to play opposite seasoned actors, gives Peter Parker a father figure and gives the movies extra star power while tying them to greater Marvel Cinematic Universe” added THR.
These quotes piss me off more than anything. Firstly, Tom Holland is an incredible actor and proves that away from the MCU and this role because it’s clear Jon Watts and Kevin Feige have no fucking clue.
The second part is PETER PARKER HAS A FATHER FIGURE AND HIS NAME IS BEN!!!
It amazes me that for the diehard Marvel fans they don’t kick off more about this because Uncle Ben is, along with Aunt May, the single most important character in the world of Spider-Man. He’s the one who raised him teaching him to be a good kid, and his death is the reason Spider-Man was born.

However, it’s clear to me that Feige and the MCU simply don’t care about Ben because when the only property to connect him with Peter was the suitcase from Far From Home and in the end battle it gets destroyed on Tower Bridge and Peter doesn’t care.
I’m not saying I need to see Uncle Ben get shot again. I just want them to care and have Peter show some feeling towards the loss of not having his father around.
Now instead of being the standalone hero in his third standalone MCU film, Dr Strange was brought in to babysit and will be using his powers to make everyone forget about the mid-credit scene in Far From Home where J. Johan Jameson reveals Peter’s secret identity.
Also, this casting confirms that instead of a standalone story, Spider-Man 3 will be a Civil War level Avengers flick.
The quicker Spider-Man can leave the MCU and be in the full control of Sony (without Feige) the better because we need to see Peter be that Friendly Neighbourhood superhero swinging around New York without the need to worry about connecting it to a wider universe.
