Batman: Hush is one of the best Batman stories and one of the best in DC Comics history. So I was super excited to hear the news that one of my favourite stories was being brought to screen in the form of DC’s incredible animation studio.

What Is Batman: Hush About?

Batman: Hush centres on a shadowy new villain known only as Hush, who uses Gotham’s rogues gallery to destroy Batman’s crime-fighting career, as well as Bruce Wayne’s (O’Mara) personal life – which has already been complicated by a relationship with Selina Kyle aka Catwoman (Morrison).

Is It Any Good?

As always, the animation is beautiful and the voice cast is fantastic with Morrison’s Catwoman bringing a nice balance to O’Mara’s Batman and also had plenty of sex appeal.

The film itself is pretty sexy and that’s a very weird thing for me to say for a DC animated film and the filmmaker did add some humour into this story that worked well.

They also focused more on the love story between Batman and Catwoman, which worked really well and added something new to the story.

Is Bad About The Film?

While it follows the graphic novel, it doesn’t have anything that made me really love the original graphic novel is the sense of the epic crime thriller because we saw the world’s greatest detective at work.

Also instead of being part of The New 52 universe it should’ve followed the likes of The Dark Knight Returns and be a singular story and be darker with the possibility of being a two-parter by mixing the love story they added with the fantastic narrative Jeph Loeb already written.

Because of these reasons, the biggest shame is that it’s only a decent film instead of one of the best to join the likes of the two-parters of The Dark Knight Returns and Death of Superman/ Reign of the Supermen.

As The Blu-Ray Got Any Special Features?

This has plenty of features to enjoy including:

DC Showcase: Sgt. Rock (Animated Short)
Batman: Love In Time Of War (Featurette)
Audio Commentary
A Sneak Peek At The Next DC Universe Movie, Wonder Woman: Bloodlines
From The DC Vault – The Batman/Superman Hour: The Underworld Underground Caper
From The DC Vault – The Batman/Superman Hour: Partners In Peril

Verdict

A decent animated adaptation of this fantastic graphic novel with beautiful animation and strong voice cast. Just a shame the adding of the love story takes away from the heart of the original story.
